Ceramic tile flooring is a popular choice among a lot of people. This is due to the fact that these tiles are durable and very affordable. The wide variety of styles, designs and colors allow you to use it in various parts of the house. Aside from that, it’s also easy to maintain ceramic tiles.
However, this does not mean that you can just take these tiles for granted. You also have to do some cleaning and maintenance in order to keep it in a good condition. There’s also a possibility that some stains would be left on the tiles.
Cleaning and maintaining ceramic tiles comes in two parts. The first one is the basic care and the second one is deep cleaning.
Basic care
In order to avoid having heavy stains in your tiles and of course, in order to keep your home clean, you have to clean the tiles regularly. Sweeping or running the vacuum cleaner is one good way to keep dust off the tiles and to avoid having dust gathering on the edges of the tiles.
Aside from vacuuming or sweeping, you should also try to mop the tile floor regularly. You may use water or if you are more meticulous, you can use a detergent solution or some disinfectants which are really made for tile floors.
Deep cleaning
There are also times when the tile floors would be damaged by stains which are difficult to remove. In this case, deep cleaning could be the solution to the problem. For less stubborn stains, a solution made of vinegar and water can be useful. All you have to do is mop it through the tile floor and rinse. It is advisable to use this kind of cleaning method for at least once a month in order to be able to clean the tile surface thoroughly.
However, the vinegar solution is not effective in removing all kinds of stains in tile floors. One of the best ways to remove tough stains is to use bleach. Prepare a bleach solutions and apply it to the tile floor. After which, you can use a scrub or a toothbrush to brush off the stains.
Yet if you have rust stains on your tile floor, it’s not the end of the world. You’re not yet doomed because there’s a secret to removing this stubborn stain. All you have to do is grab some kerosene. Wet a cloth with kerosene and wipe off the rust stain. Just make sure you use protection such as gloves and masks when handling kerosene.
